Volunteer at the Hingham Farmers Market

The Hingham Farmers Market (HFM) recently announced its reopening and will be open again on Saturday, May 30, 2020 from 9:00 am to noon, at the Station Street parking lot (located at the intersection of Station Street and Water Street).

HFM has asked HinghamLink to provide two sets of 8-10 volunteers to assist with their new “pre-order / drive through pickup” format. There will be no pedestrian traffic and no on-site sales for the time being, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.

When the market opens, customers who have placed pre-orders will be directed by our volunteers to drive through the market to the vendors’ stations, and the vendors will bring the orders directly to the customers’ vehicles.

Linda Luke, vice president and co-chair of the Friends of the Hingham Farmers Market, expressed the need for volunteers. “We’re going to need between 8 and 10 volunteers every week to assist customers and help with traffic flow,” she said. “Here’s a great opportunity to help, because the market won’t be able to operate without you.”

HinghamLink is asking our volunteer community to sign up at https://www.hinghamlink.com/hfmvolunteer.

We’re going to sign up enough volunteers to field two teams, so each volunteer will only be committing to helping out every other week. Volunteers should bring their own masks. Plan to be at Station Street by 8:15 am each Saturday, and keep in mind that walking and lifting will be required.
